Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Terri-Lynn Oliver?

I have worked for a variety of community mental health organizations providing psychotherapy to a wide range of clients of varying backgrounds, ages and cultures. I use a variety of counselling approaches, including EMDR, cognitive behavioural, narrative and strength-based therapy models and use mindfulness and meditation resources with clients.

What can I expect from initiating counselling?

When you call to request counselling, you will engage in a brief phone intake, or your phone call will be returned within 24 hours Monday to Friday. During our phone intake, we discuss your goals, circumstances, and needs and we mutually decide how to proceed. As there are a couple of location possibilities available at this time, we will also discuss where and when to meet and what to expect at each location.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

During our first appointment we will discuss your background, goals, counselling approaches and resources that may be helpful both during and in between appointments. Every session is 50 minutes in length and you can expect to feel heard, validated and respected and will be an active participant in developing a plan to help move forward with your life.

What are the fees?

Fees are $100 per session. Payment is made with cash or cheque at the beginning of each session. Counselling is not covered by OHIP or most insurance companies.
